Bathroom renovation question?

mommyme asked:
My main bath has some major problems – the floor is “soft” the toilet and shower unit are approx 35 years old and in bad shape. We are looking to renovate it. What are some things we can do ourself that will save money – Of course I know I will need a plumber to install the new fixtures. Please help
