Tile grout?

We just moved into a home that has beautiful white tile floors in the bathroom,however the previous owners did not really keep up with cleaning the grout.They are 4″tiles so the grout in between then is very narrow.Also with the grout being rough it makes it very hard to clean. Any suggestions.

try using powder cleanser with chlorine and a Mr Clean “Magic Eraser” otherwise look for a special grout cleaner

Shine ceramic tiles
If soap scum or water spots have dulled the ceramic tiles around your sink or bath, bring back the brightness by scrubbing them with 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup ammonia, and 1/4 cup borax mixed in 1 gallon (3.7 liters) warm water. Rinse well with cool water and let air-dry.
Whiten your grout
Has the grout between the tiles of your shower or bathtub enclosure become stained or discolored? Restore it to its original shade of white by using a toothbrush dipped in undiluted white vinegar to scrub away the dinginess.

you can buy grout whitener form your local hardware store. It is quite cheap and comes in a tube. It will make your grout look brand new again.

dollar store tile cleaner! superisingly really good, or CLR it is an industral cleaner, it is used for rust.. It will draw the old dirt from in the grout! ** Aircraft paint stripper, you can get it at any shermanwilliams, it will eat through everything! although you might want to test it, if the tiles are painted it will take the paint off of them…

try using snowbol toilet cleaner it cleans the grout. apply a generous amount of it to the stain then let it set for 5 hours . then clean of with a damp sponge.

There are two types of grout sanded and non-sanded grout. Narrow grout lines should be use on tile counter tops, back-splashes, shower, and tub surrounds. This narrow grout keep wicking of water to a minimum and makes these surfaces easier to clean. When setting tile with a narrow grout line non-sanded should be used because it enters voids between tile much easier and is easier to clean because it is smoother. Depending on how much work your willing to do to fix this problem you can buy a grout removal tool (they make attachments that work with Rotozips and Dremels that work great) remove grout and I would suggest using an epoxy non sanded grout to replace existing grout this grout doesn’t wick water and is mildew resistant. If this sound like to much then buy grout cleaner and clean existing grout then spray down shower with diluted bleach (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) let completely dry (fan helps) then use a grout sealer and seal grout which will keep moisture out of grout thus keeping mildew and mold at bay.

It is a pain to get the grout cleaned, but go get some grout cleaner at the hardware store. While you are there, pick up the sealer, it will save you a lot of grief. Then, the next time you mop, vaccuum first. Must people don’t, but the people at the tile store recommended this one to me & it has helped so far.
