DIY bathroom renovation?
by Jeff on May.21, 2008, under Bath
mommyme asked:
My hubby and I need a new bathroom. The estimate to have someone do it is incredible. We were hoping to tackle some of it ourselves. Is this possible for a newbie? I know I will have to have someone do a little electrical(new can lights) and move a toilet and install tub. But the demo, new framing, new sheetrock etc. Any help would be appreciated

How to find ideas for a bathroom renovation?

I am thinking about doing my own bathroom renovation, can anyone suggest some sites where I can go for inspiration? Sometimes I’m not the most creative when it comes to design.

How can I get dirt out of tile grout?
by Jeff on May.04, 2008, under Bath
pinkcandyjunkie asked:
I have great looking light tile in my kitchen and dining area but the grout is white. The tile is simple enough to clean but when I mop the dirty water accumulates in the grout and even though I mop up the water or even dry it by hand dirt always gets into the grout. I’ve tried hand scrubbing it and several tile and grout products and even that doesn’t remove all of the dirt. What can I do to remove it without so much fuss?

For a bathroom renovation, in what order should I do the projects?
by Jeff on Apr.30, 2008, under Bath
Air Marshall 50 Cent asked:
I will be renovating my bathroom soon. I will do new tile around the bathtub, new linoleum, new paint, new fixtures and sink……basically all the bathroom surfaces, with the exception of the bathtub, will be new. I’ve done all these things (tile, linoleum) before and I am comfortable with it, but I’ve never done them all together as one complete project. Do you have any suggestions as to where to start and what order to do these things in. Any other advice would be appreciated as well.

How do you remove white haze from tile grout?
by Jeff on Apr.27, 2008, under Bath
Hershey asked:
We recently put a porcelain tile floor in our bathroom. We used a recommended grout haze cleaner. The tiles look better but in some spots the grout turned white. Not just a little white, snow white. The grout is suppose to be green. Can anyone tell me what we are doing wrong. In spots the grout is the color it is suppose to be. I don’t want to seal the grout until the problem is fixed. It is very frustrating.

Bathroom renovation question. Cost?
by Jeff on Apr.21, 2008, under Bath
Nadia asked:
We have a small bathroom downstairs. Our upstairs is nothing but an open palate with framing only on the outside walls. We would love to have a new bathroom roughed-in. Could someone who knows, give me a idea of the cost?

I realize the details are sketchy but we would like an idea of the cost. We will be getting someone to come in and give us ideas too. Tell me what you know. Thanks!

How do I refinish a bathtub?
by Jeff on Apr.09, 2008, under Bath
moira77 asked:
I recently moved into a house that was refinished, but they apparently forgot to finish the bathtubs. They are matte, not slick and shiny and they have some stains and rough patches. I think they’re so gross I don’t even want to take a bath in them! I’ve seen people painting bathtubs on tv shows, but Lowe’s said they didn’t have bathtub paint. Do I need to call plumber or someone else to have this done? I’m willing to pay someone else to do it or do it myself, just need to know what’s involvwed or who I should call. Thanks!
