We just bought our home last year and want to make some renovations to try and increase the value in our home. Anyone have any quick fixes or ideas that you can think of that draw you in to a home? Thanks!

Small updates make a big difference. Take things out that remind you of old houses. For example, I used to live in a house that had almond faceplates on all the outlets…changing these to bright white made a huge difference. Of course redoing kitchens and bathrooms is always going to be the highest return on your money…but you need to make sure the basics are done too

Paint, paint, paint! You would be surprised what a fresh coat of paint will to do a house’s value.

Kitchens and bathrooms are what people look at when shopping for a home. Well, location comes first of course. But kitchen and baths are the most expensive things to renovate in the house, so if you can do that and not spend too much money – that would definitely increase the value. Also, if you have an unfinished basement – finish it. Basically, look at your house with an eye of a person from the street – you’ll know what you need to do.

Kitchen and bathroom renovations. Everything else will lose you money. Actually a paint job will give you an increase if you have wooden siding.

Kitchens and Baths sell homes. So I would concentrate in those areas. Also, wherever it is appropriate, fresh paint always looks very nice.

Whatever you do, do it yourself, if at all possible. If you don’t know how, learn. You can add a great deal of value to your home by doing things yourself.

Freshly painted rooms–and clean, white ceilings make an impact. Make sure your rooms flow–one color into another. Also, if your house has old, dated light fixtures, I have found that replacing those can be an instant update. It is easier to replace a light fixture. Check out Lowe’s, Home Depot, and sales at lighting stores.

Kitchen and Bathrooms!!! Those improvements go a long way. Also, pay special attention to the master bedroom. Consider crown molding for the house, paint, and give a little TLC to the yard, make it desirable as well. Pressure wash the house to give it a clean new look.
