Kitchen Islands are a great addition to any kitchen. As well as adding more workspace and storage space, they make the kitchen a more social space. The designs can be anything from a portable kitchen island on wheels, to a plain rectangular bench top in the middle of the kitchen to those that have drawers, appliances and even ovens built in.

But what if your house has a really modern design and you are looking for a kitchen island that can fit in. You are looking for something that will fit with the modern style of your house. You certainly don’t want the kitchen letting the rest of the house down. It can quickly become cluttered and lack style. You may be thinking that the perfect answer is one that has everything that you are looking for, but is nicely tucked away so that they can be pulled out if needed, but if not they are hidden away.

I came across such an example recently, that fits the bill of a modern sleek design. This is a great option if you don’t have a huge amount of space or just prefer a clean tidy look. On first glance, it looks like an ordinary bench top, nothing special. But if you look closer, you will notice a button on the side. Once this button is pushed, a motor starts and opens up the bench top to reveal a complete workspace with sink, taps and a large area for preparing food. When you are finished, you can push the button and the whole thing packs away by itself. You are left with a clean looking kitchen, maybe if you have guests coming over you could leave the cleaning up for later and this automated kitchen island will neatly hide the mess!
