If You Don’t Clean Dryer Vent, You Are In Trouble

by on Mar.22, 2009, under Uncategorized

There are plenty of thinkgs you need to think about when it comes to clothes dryer maintenance. Though it is likely something you think about the least, it could be the one cause you the biggest problem. Failure to maintain the dryer vent is the number one cause of clothes dryer related fires.

It is hard to understand the importance of ventilation maintenance if you do not understand the whole system in work.

The lint is being removed and taken outdoors, all the way through the ventilation system of a clothes dryer. The trap will capture only 60 percent of the lint that comes out of clothes dryer. Before you dry each load and start to remove the lint, this is the part of the clothes dryer you should pull out. Well, that is only 60%. But what will happen to the other forty percent?

The part of the lint that managed to pass the trap is going outside, all the way through the duct system that comes out of your clothes dryer exhaust. The duct work is that weird looking hose that seems to come out of the wall, but it actually is a hose that comes out of your dryer and it is going outside. While you may not see the rest of the path, it leads to the outside of your house, and to the dryer vent. Some of the lint is going to be too heavy or sticky to make it all the way through the line and will get stuck up on the walls along the way. And this is an issue that needs to be taken care of from time to time.

Clothes dryer ventilation is the final stop for the lint that goes out of the dryer. This is a flapper vent top that is at the end of the line outside. This is where all that hot air is finally set free. Lint will continue to build up, of course, which is a big fire hazard and a big obstacle for your clothes dryer to do its work properly.
